We don’t do merch very often, but when we do, we make sure it’s something special.
Alongside some tees, we’ve made mugs with original artwork by Jim Pluk, a Colombia-based illustrator who here represents what coffee means for us: joy, connection, and exploration—of flavours, places, cultures…
And it’s not just any mug. It’s a beautiful, comfy, ‘just right’ old milk glass vessel made in Japan by Tsunagu Craft.

Art concept and backstory
All our previous artwork features have been created either in-house or by a local creative. This time, we wanted to try something different and work with artists from our favourite origins, starting with Colombia (where most of the coffee lots we buy are produced).
After a deep dive into the internet, we came across Jim Pluk, a Bucaramanga-born illustrator, author and muralist known for his socially conscious work and the visual novel ‘Canosa’. We felt their playful, relaxed and cheeky style aligned perfectly well with our own character, so we got in touch and commissioned an original artwork.
(Fun fact: they designed one of the early logos for Caravela, our main coffee importer!)
After a short brief about Sample, we asked Jim to represent what coffee means for us: a medium for connection, exploration and joy. We think they’ve nailed it. What do you reckon?
