The coffee

Each of our single origins and blends has a dedicated page where we share transparency information, origin stories and more.

You can access your current coffee page by scanning the QR code on the bag’s front label or using this search box:

The packaging

Our coffee bean bags are certified home compostable by the Australian Bioplastics Association and conform to the Home Composting Australian Standard AS 5810-2010. They are supplied by Eco Barista and made with plant-based materials.

Please note the ABA home compostable verified logo is not featured in our current 250g and 1kg bags because these batches were printed before Eco Barista got the license to use it. However, the materials and manufacturing process are the same.

We started our transition to home compostable retail bags in mid-2023 introducing first the 250g size and gradually the other formats (400-500g and 1kg) as the existing soft plastic stock is completely used. The transition is fully complete in July 2024, but there’s a chance you will find the odd old bag still circulating somewhere!

How to dispose of it

  • Coffee bag labels
    1. Tear the front label off and place it in the recycling bin.

These labels can’t (sadly) claim compostability yet. Please recycle, otherwise place it with your general waste.

  • Coffee beans degassing valve
    2. Tear the rear valve off and place it in the general waste bin (only in 400-500g and 1kg bags).

We’ve asked our supplier for a compostable or recyclable alternative; they’re working on it.

  • Coffee bag without the label, ready to compost
    3. Flatten the bag and home compost in your nearest facility.

There are a few handy links to help you find a home composting solution just below. If this is not available to you, place it in the general waste bin.

  • Used coffee grounds
    4. Coffee grounds are organic matter and they can be composted too!

Place in your home compost station or food organics bin. Otherwise, in the general waste bin.
