Bourbon Aji variety

Descended from Ethiopian Heirloom

There’s very little solid information about this variety within our reach, so please take this as preliminary!

Recent genetic tests suggest that Bourbon Aji descends from Ethiopian Heirloom rather than Bourbon (the same case as Pink Bourbon, Chiroso, Sidra, Gesha).

It is commonly grown in the Huila region, and it’s dubbed “Ají” due to its resemblance to chillies – Ají is one of the local words for chilli.
