About the Decaf Project
This tasting set is part of the Decaf Project, a global event led by James Hoffman to learn about and experience 3 different decaffeination methods (alongside the original coffee).
What’s in
This set includes 4 x 250g bags of Colombia La Virgen in different formats, allowing for taste and comparison:
- Unprocessed
- Ethyl Acetate Decaffeination Process
- Swiss Water Decaffeination Process
- Natural Carbonic Decaffeination Process (Subcritical CO2)

We’ll roast and ship these tasting sets on the 3rd/4th of December 2024.

Online subscribers: Please add your Decaf Project tasting set to your next delivery before the end of Monday, 2nd of December (or before it sells out). Don’t forget to set the date of your next delivery to Wednesday, 4th of December.
Live tasting and knowledge library
James Hoffmann will run a live tasting session on the 15th December at 3 PM GMT (16th December at 2 AM AEDT). This session will be recorded and uploaded for those who can’t make it—which is probably most of us down under!
In the lead-up to it, he’ll share a few videos expanding on the project and each decaffeination method. Follow his channel to stay up to date.
