EOFY 24/25 donations: Carbon Positive Australia, Addi Road, Deadly Science

20 cents per bag sold (online and in our cafes) between 1 July 2024 and 30 June 2025 will go to Carbon Positive Australia, Addi Road, Deadly Science

Since 2019, we’ve set aside 20 cents per bag sold through our website and our Surry Hills and St Peter’s cafes. At the end of every financial year, we’ve passed the sum to causes that are close to our team values: environmental, local activism, social justice…

Last financial year (23/24), the ‘donation kitty’ went to Addi Road, Carbon Positive Australia and Deadly Science. This year, we’ve decided to keep supporting them.

But there’s something new!

A new feature allows online subscribers to nominate their preferred organisation, which will receive their ‘donation kitty share’ (the 20 cents raised through their subscription bags during FY24/25. The deadline for those who would like to nominate is June 26 2025 11.59 PM, and it can be done through the subscriber dashboard once logged in.

Otherwise, any un-nominated shares plus the money raised through online and in-shop retail sales will be shared evenly between:

Carbon Positive Australia

We’ve supported their planting and land restoration projects in Australia every year since 2020. It’s great to follow their progress!

Addi Road

Based in our neighbouring suburb of Marrickville, this charity runs campaigns against food waste, homelessness, and racism. While it’s the first year we nominate them as recipients of our ‘donation box’, we’ve supported them in the past by donating the profits from our garage sale and a bunch of brew bags to go with their Royal Prince Alfred Hospital staff’s takeaway dinners.

Deadly Science

Many in our team and brewing community are deeply connected to the science and tech world. Yep, we’re proud nerds in many ways—code, design, coffee. That’s why, this year, we’ve shared part of our ‘donation box’ with Deadly Science, an organisation “creating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners.”

We’ll update this post in July with more information and final donation numbers. In any case, thanks a lot to all of you who have contributed to this by brewing our beans!
